Ok, here are some thoughts on Da Vinci and Dan Brown, the book, etc. FYI, I've have read the book and liked it (in a heretical fantasy-fiction sort of way). And yes, I plan on seeing the movie so sue me!
1) If there was such a secret (Jesus & Mary’s marriage) and this secret was so damning to the church… Then why oh why would you create a secret society of men to glorify and carry on said secret from one generation to another? Wouldn’t it have been simpler to just forget about it and let it die?
2) Jesus was NOT married. He could not have been. How many married guys do you know that were able to just go anywhere he wanted with all his buddies at any time without getting in trouble?
3) How come Dan Brown completely lifted this story from others? That seems to be his method. In case you did not know this is not a new theory... he just put a storyboard to it. (I can’t wait to read his next book… Jesus and the Goblet of Fire).
Here is my take on the story and movie. Don’t boycott, don’t badmouth. Go see the movie and take notes. Take notes on the parts that make you go, “huh… that sounds weird”. Why? Because it is those parts that people will be asking about. Use the movie to your advantage. Don’t ask, “How can we break the code”… ask, “How can we use this movie for our advantage?”
Wild-Hair Idea: People will come to know Christ through this movie. (Many will be drawn to search for truth and I bet some of them actually find IT)!

Robert,
The movie was okay...toned down a bit from the book to make it more viewer friendly. The movie, as far as entertainment value, was not that good. I will also tell you...I have no idea why this has caused such a stirring...to be honest I don't think it will make as great an impact that everyone feared. Folks...calm down...it's fiction.
