I should be reading or something but here I am stealing a few personal minutes in the SWBTS Computer Lab.

Shelly and I went in the hospital Tuesday night around 10pm in order to begin the inducing for baby to get here. While she was getting settled and the IVs were being administered, she started having contractions. The plan was to give her a dose of some drug that would get things closer to being ready (I'm editing for all the younger readers out there). They did give her a VERY small pill that I really don't think did much. At 4-5am they were going to begin the Potosin (sp) that would send her into good contractions. However, we never made it cause about 3am her water broke on its own and so they stopped all meds and waited for nature to take its course. She was progressing along nicely until the epidural was given. They gave her such a low dose that it really did not do much. She continued to have hard contractions. Levi would just not come down and he was not turned the right way. So we waited and waited. We waited so long the epidural ran out and it was too late to give more... GO SHELLY!

Finally she was dilated enough and he was low enough to start pushing. In case you don't know, a 9lb 1oz baby does not come out easily. So it took her a few pushes! (it was at this point that I realized no matter how sick I am, no matter if I get my arm chewed off by a million ants and then submerge it into alcohol, that I will never have an argument for pain compared to what Shelly has endured multiple times).

18 hours later we were at home!

Shelly is tough. That is a big boy! I am also familiar with child birth without an epidural.
