My Big Girl!

|

I took Ashlin on a date Friday night for her 5th birthday (which is today). I have taken her on one every year but previously McDonalds was the desired location. This year it was Panera Bread (thank you Jesus). We got all dressed up and I showed up with a flower and the whole nine yards. We ate soup and then I gave her a ring and matching necklace. She had a blast. Then we went to eat ice cream and off to Barnes & Noble (her choice... man I love my daughter!). We read books and then took a walk in the mall (that is a strange place to be on Friday nights). After that we can home and crashed!

Why do I do that you might ask? Simple. I want to show her what to expect. That way when she is 16 and some punk kid tries to do something more, she can say, Hey that's not what my daddy did on our dates. Then I will kill the punk kid and dispose of him under my new concrete patio.

This is so sweet. Ernest does this with Carly. In our town at Valentines there is a Daddy/Daughter Dance, Carly lives for that.

I thought the part about the burial under the concrete patio was very sweet too.

Our previous college pastor talked about his daughter (who was very young, maybe a year or so old) dating one day. He said he had a solution - he just wasn't going to potty train her. This way, she just crap and pee herself all the time, no boy would want to date her....I think your approach is much easier, and pleasant!
