YOU ARE NOT YOUR OWN

In response to Todd’s public honoring of Kristen, I would like to post my own proclamation as to reasons I love my own mate:

1) She’s the most amazing person I know
2) She is so great as a mom, she makes me wish I had her as a mother (but then that would be kind of gross even for a kid from Porter).
3) Shelly keeps the most clean, good smelling, peaceful, and ordered home that I have ever seen. (But the kicker is that she does it because she wants to).
4) She knows the Word… (she would disagree with me on this point, but I know that given time to interpret what the Scripture means, she will be dead on 99% of the time).
5) She is Beautiful with a capital “Hot”.
6) I love it when she walks into a room after getting dressed (her beauty stains me).
7) (This comment removed due to G-rating).
8) She lifts me up everyday by asking how she can help me.
9) She is a constant source of laughter, peace, wisdom, joy, and love.
10) She can make friendships with anyone (and they last).
11) Shelly is the best I know at discernment (whenever she says, “I think we need to do this for so and so”… I don’t even ask questions).
12) She teaches me more about myself, God, and life everyday.
13) She is the pinnacle example of commitment (16 years and counting).
14) Her beauty never fades… it only fades everything else away (oh, that was good. Props to me!)
15) We like to do the same things (is this normal or did I just luck out?)
16) We both like the same foods, and religiously order them (why change a good thing?)
17) She respects me (and it shows)
18) She thinks I’m smart
19) She can cook like nobody’s business
20) She’s fun to hang out with (give us two chairs and a coffee and we’ll talk for hours like it’s the first time)
21) She likes to eat at hamburger joints on Valentines Day
22) Shelly is the most non-material person I know (I really need to learn from her)
23) To steal from Billy Joel…”She comes to me when I’m feeling down, inspires me without a sound, she touches me, I get turned around!”
24) She makes me laugh, cry, smile, and bite my tongue (sometimes all at the same time).
25) She has given me the three best things I could have ever asked for… Ashlin, Claire, & Levi
