Ashlin and I both started class today.
She started Kindergarten at 8:00am at Tenderfoot Primary School here in Sanger, TX. When asked this afternoon what her favorite part was she replied, "none... I love the whole thing!" That makes a mom and dad feel good. However, it is a little weird seeing her start school and wondering how being at a school for 7 hours a day is going to affect her. Shelly and I both still feel like public school is the way for us to go. We've actually considered homeschooling several times but just did not feel comfortable doing it. I want my kids to be protected, free from insult, harm, and bullies. However, I also know that experiencing those things just might be the best thing that can happen to a kid. (Of course after the fact I will bury some punk kid in my flower bed).
I also started my 3rd year at seminary at 8:00am. Had I had any other class than Hebrew I would have skipped it to be with Ashlin, but I could not miss Hebrew. Funniest part of my day was while I was in my "Premarital and Marriage Counselling" class a girl was trying to explain a family relative of hers to us and in the process used the term "Nut Job". Have you ever been in one of those situations where you were trying not to laugh but one was escaping out anyway? Yeah, that's how the whole class was. Things were ok until she said "He's just a Nut Job" again. That was all I could take.

10 bucks says that counseling class will be chalked full of those moments.
The foundational truth that no one's opinion but God's helps us get perspective in the midst of all those offenses faced at school all the rest of life. Too bad we can't drill a hole in our kids heads and pour in the truth.
