Earlier in the summer I ordered a few CDs from Independentbands.com Last week I finally received my shipment (Crowder's was holding them all up).

So this past week I've been able to take a good listen to all of them and you know what? They're just ok!

Caedmon's Call - Overdressed
I must say since the demise a few years ago I've not been a fan too much. Overall the project seems incohesive. The first four songs are sung by separate members: Derek/Danielle/Cliff/Andy. As if to say, "We've got to give each of you big timers your own airplay. Derek and Danielle perform a few harmonic renditions that remind you of the old days but over all I didn't get (understand) the theme of the record. Plus I'm not a big Andy Osenga fan anyway.

Casting Crowns - The Altar and the Door
What happened to these guys? Too much touring and not enough songwriting. Don't get me wrong the album is right in line with their other projects musically, but I just don't see this CD giving us 3, 4, or 5 top songs. Maybe just one. The music is good but the songwriting aspect is lacking here.

David Crowder*Band - Remedy
Dude when I first heard Everything Glorious I thought this was going to be a great CD. I lvoe that song. However the entire album fails to live up to that standard. It's good and all. But nothing like Illuminate or Collision. Then again I'm going to see him in concert Friday night so I might come back saying it is the greatest CD ever!

Pocket Full of Rocks - Manifesto
I really don't know what it is about this band that draws me to it. I love their songs. Michael Farren can write and sing. I like the hard-driving style of their music. The first 5 or 6 songs on this CD are great but then it tapers off. They should have stuck to 10 songs on this one.

Third Day - Chronology Volume Two
Who doesn't like Third Day. Although this is a 'greatest hits' CD the coolest part is the DVD that comes with it which include several live performance videos and an hour long documentary on the band since the beginning. After watching that I liked them even more.

I just realized that I posted these in the same order that I would rank them (with Third Day being the best). One plus was that ordering them so early I did get several autographed covers and a free T-shirt. Wahoo for the T-shirt... I don't know what I did with the autographed covers.

Thanks for the info...I love Pocket Full of Rocks by the way. Is this one as good as their last?

Ernest, I'd say it's right there with it. Maybe after a few more listens I'll know for sure.

So where are you guys now? In Alaska ministering to the native people while fishing for cod off the banks?
