11th Anniversary

|

Eleven years ago today I married this girl.It is weird to think back and remember that the only thing we were thinking about this day was hurry up and get us to the airport... we had a date with Denver, CO.  She was young, bright, and beautiful. We had no idea what our future would hold. All we knew was that we loved each other and had waited a really long time to get married. You see we actually met several years earlier. It was 1990. I was in the 9th grade and and we had gone "kidnapping" for church one night. That was where we took a vehicle and went and picked up kids and brought them to church. My friends and I decided to go pick up Chad Turner. Chad was a couple of years older than we were but a nice guy. When we got to his house no one was home. We were leaving when a little red vehicle pulled up into the driveway. It was Shelly (Chad's little sister) and her mom. Her mom was teaching Shelly how to drive. All I remember thinking was "hey that girl is cute." We left and several days passed.

We were having a revival at our church and one night I saw a girl I knew who was in the 8th grade named Candice. Candice had brought a friend that night and introduced her to me. It was Shelly. Again, I thought, "Cute girl!" Fast forward to the Fall of 1991. We were in Coldsprings, TX and I was playing a football game. During the 4th quarter I broke my right ankle. I was in much pain on the sideline but managed to flirt with this cute, Freshman cheerleader... Shelly. Within two weeks we were 'talking' or whatever it's called today.  I asked her to the homecoming dance and she agreed.

16+ years later...

I am married to the most amazing woman ever. She is still just as cute and lovely to me as that first day I met her. I am amazed that after 16 years I still am learning things about her. She works harder than any other person I know. She keeps a perfect house and is an incredible mom to our 3 (almost 4) children. She is an incredible wife, lover, and best friend. I've seen her handle life with determination and purpose that would humble the hardest of hearts. She is a better person than I am and because of that she makes me what I am today.

Happy 11th Anniversary to you Shell. Many daughters have done nobly... but you exceed them all!

Here's to the best 11 years I could have ever hoped for or dreamed of.

I Love You,
Robert

Congrats, guys! Yes, Shelly is amazing. She is my one true inspiration for keeping a clean house. I don't know how she does it, but man does she do it well. And not only that, her children adore her. Joan Crawford she is NOT!

But that's certainly not her only talent. She is an amazing friend, minister to women and kids, inspiring teacher, and is quite funny! And somehow in all that she does, she always looks great. Never a hair out of place or a wrinkle in her cute wardrobe. What's your secret, sista?

You two are perfectly matched and my family is truly blessed to know you and your precious family. Hope you guys have a wonderful day.
