Now We're Talking!

|

So my "Bible and Moral Issues" class is getting interesting. After several weeks of wallowing through words and concepts such as (metaphysics, existentialism, continental rationalism, etc) we are finally getting to have some fun.

Beginning next Monday we must present our first of 6 "reaction papers" to the class.  These papers are are topics whereby we write a 1-page description/stance and defense on the topic. We must read our paper in front of the class and then take any questions, criticisms, and comments as we defend our position in front of the entire class. Oh and by the way, the professor rewards exceptionally challenging or contradictory questions to the presenting student.

This week's topic: Divorce & Remarriage

I read once that divorce rate amongst Christians was approximatley the same as other religions/non-believers. I've always been curious as to why. Maybe a point of discussion you can bring up.

Scott S. sadly the truth is the Christian divorce rate is actually a little higher than the norm. I'd like to think that is because Christians are 1) reaching out to those who have been divorced and caring on them thus increasing the percentage by those divorcees joining our churches, and 2) because Satan is attacking the foundations of the family.

While those are somewhat true I also imagine a large part of the problem has much to do with ignorance and choosing convenience on the behalf of believers.
