So Ashlin tried to convince us that she needed to trade in her old chore (unloading the dishwasher) in for a new chore (vacuuming and 'Swiffering' the kitchen floor). She was adamant about this decision of hers.

So being the ever brilliant father I am I called her to my side and proceeded to tell her that in my job if there is something that I want to do but can't because I must do other things, that I have to teach and train someone else to do those in my place. Which will free me up to do the other things that need to be done. Her countenance brightened with each word. I was connecting on some level (though i didn't know where exactly).

So I urged her that until she trained someone else to unload the dishwasher then she would be responsible for doing it.

She smiled brightly and the last Shelly and I heard was Ashlin running down the hallway and gleefully exclaiming, "Claire, I've got exciting news for you!"

That's great! I can't wait to hear how this turns out for Ashlin.

Joel we don't wash our fine china, it would get all soggy. Paper doesn't hold up in the dish washer.
