So yesterday I ran the Sanger X-Country Invitational. Funny name I know. it was a 5K run in town. There weren't a whole host of people because it was the first one that Sanger has had. There were maybe 50 people. Mostly high-school cross country athletes. Registered at 7:30 and then waited around till 8:30. But about 8:00am they had a Jazzercize warm-up routine. There was no way I was going to do that. I saw way too much movement from some of my students moms out there.

Anyway, started the race a little too fast (stupid high school kids). So my pace got all messed up. I passed a water station at mile 1 and figured I'd catch the next one. Except there never was another one. When it was all said and done I finished the 3.3 miles in 28:41. Not bad for a first timer like me. (Of course the cross country coach did it in 15 min). He looked like a Kenya defector. The cool part was that they divided everyone up into age groups. Since there was only like 5 guys in my age group I got a sweet Silver medal. That's the only thing I have ever won in a running competition (well there was that one fruit basket from the fat-man relay during track but we never did get that basket).

Then went and spent all day in the hot sun at Celebrate Freedom. It was ok. I was a little disappointed overall. I missed Phil Whikham's slot and Mercy Me was hard to hear. We left before Smitty's performance and Tomlin was... well Tomlin. Is it just me or does he always look like he's staring someone down when he's singing. Don't know what it is but I just don't he enjoys it anymore. Just a feeling I have every time I see him in concert.

Legs tired, but good overall. Going to watch some fireworks! Happy 4th!

I don't know who Tomlin's staring at...but I bet it's a guy.
