Radio Part 2

|

Recently I realized that I had abandoned all forms of music except the "Safe and fun for the whole family kind". This was not on purpose, it's just that I am in my car very seldom these days (living next to the church). Consequently my radio drive time have been cut down to virtually nothing compared to when I travelled all over the country.

So I finally got around to setting my FM stations last night. Here is how it worked out.

FM1
1. Christian (the safe & fun kind... not the edgy kind)
2. Classic Rock
3. Classic Rock
4. Country
5. Old/Texas Country
6. New Country

FM2
I'm not sure what these stations are but they consist of Hip-Hop, R&B, Light Rock, etc.

I think I have gotten burned out on Christian music. I know that sounds horrible but I miss the stories in the songs. Even though there are Christian story tellers (Rich Mullins, Chris Rice, Derek Webb, Ross King, etc) the problem is the radio hardly ever plays these. Just about the only thing they play is congregational worship songs (Tomlin, Hillsongs, etc.). I'm not saying that those songs are bad ok! I'm just saying I am ready to hear some other stuff.

Am I making any sense?

You would think the Christian radio stations in Nashville would be better huh? They're not.

My thing is this...

Why aren't they playing Todd Wright?

I agree Robert. Sometimes I think that "secular" songs contain more truth than what is being played on Christian radio.
