In 1994, travelling down Broadway in Galveston, TX I heard "Midnight Rider" on the radio. I asked my roomate who sang it. He said, "The Allman Brothers".

For me, the Allman brothers represent the 'rocker' part of me. During that Freshman year of college I was exposed to lots of musical influences I had not listened to before: Led Zepplin, Eric Clapton, STP, Tom Petty, Skynyrd, Steve Miller, etc. I know those are all not the same genre but I absolutely love Southern Rock music. So I chose The Allman Brothers as the poster child for all of them... Rock On!

2 Les Paul electric guitars playing dueling leads, 2 drummers, 2 keyboard players, but only 1 bass player. Was the other guy sick or is he just that good.

Last summer I was visiting a friend in Birmingham, Alabama, and we got to see the Allman Brothers play live at the city music festival. The lady at the door somehow had sympathy on us when we showed up without tickets and let us in for FREE! We caught the last number of the show which was the 30 plus minute Mountain Jam. To my surprise Alabama native and American Idol Winner Taylor Hicks was jammin on the harmonica with them which admittedly lowered my respect for the Allman Brothers, but then again Taylor did wail on the harmonica. It was a fun night.
