Ok, peeps. Here it is. The long awaited next movie in the M. Night Shyamalan dynasty.
Brief synopsis (without spoiling):
Something begins to happen which makes people act in a way they normally would not. Hordes of people then try to escape the terror only to find that escape is not an option. Doom is eminent.
What worked:
In classic Shyamalan fashion the suspense is great. I would add it is not as suspenseful as the other films I think because this is an "R" rated movie so he could get by with showing more than a PG or PG-13 would have (so a little of the suspense is lost in that regard).
In addition Shyamalan finds a way to add humor and comedy to his movies which helps break up any awkwardness or sluggishness.
This movie takes you on a journey for sure. You start in central New York and end up on a backwoods farm in the middle of literally nowhere.
What Didn't Work:
For me the acting was probably the worst of all the films. From the main characters to the onscreen television reporters. It all seems a little canned for me. However I did notice that early on you are drawn into liking most of the characters which is bad because some of them... let's say don't stick around too long.
Absent from this film that is characteristic to other Shyamalan movies is the big "twist." While this one does have a climactic scene it leaves you wanting more.
Overall:
Good movie. I won't say great. But I won't say bad either cause I like all his work and am a little biased. I will say at one point I was curled up like a small child and had my eyes closed. And for that... I say it's a must see.

Worst movie I've ever seen, hands down.
