So last night I decided to rip a few of my old CDs. I had kind of gotten tired of the music I’d been listening to and needed a change of scenery. So I did just that... (yes Youth ministers listen to more than Crowder and Coldplay). So I took off from Sanger headed to Ft. Worth this morning and hit “Shuffle” on the “Newly Added” folder I created. Below is the sequence of songs from my trip. How about this for an eclectic mixture?
Years After You - John Conlee
She Keeps the Home Fires Burning - Ronnie Milsap
Nightingale - Eagles
Gods of War - Def Leppard
As Long as I’m Rocking with You - John Conlee
Son of a Son of a Sailor - Jimmy Buffet
Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits
Let’s Get Lost - Amanda Marshall
Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (James Bond) - Dionne Warwick
Tuesday’s Gone - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Lay Your Hands on Me - Bon Jovi
Busted - John Conlee
Backwoods Preacher Man - Tony Joe White
High Sheriff of Calhoun Parish - Tony Joe White
Polk Salad Annie - Tony Joe White
The triple play of Tony Joe White was quite a blessing I tell you. In addition, the abrupt transition from Bon Jovi to John Conlee made me giggle out loud. Do any of these bring you back? Any favorites listed here? For your listening pleasure I've included a clip of Polk Salad Annie. This song has been a staple for me since my high school days. Enjoy!
P.S. Yes, I did sing loudly on most of these.

I forgot about Amanda Marshall.
You and Tony Joe...that's fate, right there.
I remember you dancing like Bill Cosby to Polk Salad Annie.
I love you!!
AHHHHH! Ronnie Milsap! That brings back memories of riding around in the station wagon with my family back when I was a kid. How fun! 8 Tracks! That and Charlie Daniel's band....
The car Robert and I rode in on our first date had an 8 track in it. We called it the "Hot Rod Lincoln" We did listen to the 8 track!
