YOU ARE NOT YOUR OWN

A little back story: Claire (who is 4) is enamored with the country of Turkey. She doesn’t know anything about the country necessarily but she thinks its a funny name for a country (which it is) and she can spot it on a map for some strange reason.

SO

The other morning at breakfast Claire grabbed my bible and flipped it to the maps in the back. She said, “Where do we live?” I told her that where we lived was not on that particular map. Then I said but hey look, “Turkey is on this map... it’s right here.” I then proceeded to show her the area presently known as Turkey. Ashlin grabs the map and looks intently. Finally Ashlin says, “I don’t see where it says Turkey anywhere.” “That’s because back then it wasn’t called Turkey, the map is showing you what things looked like back then... it was called something else.” Claire says, “Was it called Ham?”
