I'm chewing on some stuff that I want to share here in a few days. It's about goodness. Till then I want to hear your thoughts on the topic. How about a question?
Does being a Christian make you a better person?
shhh, I've shared too much already.

A person becomes "better" in only two categories that I can think of...in their public actions and in their unseen character. Normally the two aren't really separated...but in this case I think there is one exception.
In both categories I would say yes. Because being Christian means loving Jesus and abiding in Him, who is God, who is all things good, who lives in us and changes us...instantly and over time. A 'better' person, in my opinion, is someone who has/is become/ing less consumed with evil and more consumed with good.
He makes us a new creation instantly. Over time a Christian is defined as one who is known by their love. We are told that we can spot another genuine lover of Christ by examining their fruits. Fruits aren't simply actions...actually they are developed character traits that led to different actions (patience, gentleness, self-control...)
The exception I can think of to the character plus action thing above is the robber on the Cross next to Jesus. Even then though, there was a transformation by the Spirit that occurred. He went from evil enemy of God to child of God and Saint.
That is my two cents. This kinda relates to a blog I've been wanting to write...
