Happy Birthday Todd

|

In honor of my friend Todd's birthday I thought I would 're-post' a blog a posted a couple of years ago describing several simple reasons I love the man known as BTW

  1. The first time I met Todd he was impersonating Drew Carey (and I thought it really was Drew Carey).
  2. In the words of Brandon Conn, “Dude, ya’ll are just alike.”
  3. We both own a Martin Pro EQ. (at least I still do, I think Todd has moved on to bigger and better things).
  4. He makes my guitar sound good.
  5. He always has those random “if you were a candy bar what kind would you be” questions readily available.
  6. Need I mention the songwriting?
  7. The man knows things about leading worship that I’d be willing to bet 90% of worship leaders do not know.
  8. Todd has taken a Methodist church from struggling to find its identity to making major inroads into the lives of families and individuals. (And he’s doing a pretty dang good job at it) [since this original post Todd has of course moved to Tyler and is quickly becoming a local legend there]
  9. He’s funny in a way that I can only wish I were.
  10. I’ve never heard him yell, or even get very frustrated (so either he does not do it or he hides it pretty well).
  11. He has water gun fights with his kids.
  12. “Chicken wire, Chicken wire” [inside joke]
  13. He let a guy with a new Djembe play in his band.
  14. He still laughs at my “Yahoo hands” joke.
  15. He has the creative mind of a genius and the heart of a true friend.
  16. The Burn Service.
  17. WorshipNotes (usually when I meet someone semi-famous I say, “Hi I’m Todd Wright’s friend from WorshipNotes”).
  18. Is there anything that guy doesn’t know about music?
  19. He’s the only person I know who can (at the same time) be reading a Stephen King novel, a Rob Bell book, and Early Renaissance English Literature and somehow incorporate them all into a discussion starter.
  20. His kid and my kid praise God like their Pentecostal.
  21. He’s the same no matter who he is around: (from a complete stranger, to Chris Tomlin… the guy treats everybody the same).
  22. I usually pattern my wardrobe after Todd, when I shop I think to myself, “that looks like something Todd would wear.”
  23. Have you seen this guy teach worship leading to a band he has never met? Goodnight it’s amazing how smooth he is.
  24. He’s just plain gifted at whatever he does.
  25. Everything he attempts comes off looking good, sounding great, and magnifying God (he does not have the reverse Midas touch).
  26. He's got a great wife to boot.
  27. He has a knack for collecting really neat people as friends. [I'm not talking about myself either]
  28. If blog posts were people, he's be the world!
  29. He's not afraid to tell people when he does not like something (like football).
  30. He's a true friend that I have seen God work in and through since I've known him.
Happy Birthday Todd! Have a great day.

VOTE FOR ME!!!

Hey everybody, go over to Todd's Blog and read my recent interview with Todd. Then make a comment on his blog (probably relating to how funny I am, but feel free to use your own judgement).

WHY, you ask? So I'll win the competition that's why! Not sure what I'll win but it will be worth the bragging rights for sure!

So go here...

In honor of Todd publicly honoring me, which was a response to me publicly honoring my wife, which was in reaction to him publicly honoring Kristen, I will continue the theme and publicly honor the smoothest cat ever to dawn the stage. (Brandon Todd Wright)
