A Designer's Pallet - Bests

Any of you guys out there that dabble in (design/graphics/video) have got to know about these web sites (if you don't already). These are sites that I use often if not for inspiration then simply to make my life easier.

1) MotionLoops.com - Great place to find those motion video loops for your projection needs. They are a little pricey but much better than most of the other videos out there.











2) PowerPointSermons.com - To subscribe to this service is a pain in the wallet but if your church does graphics on a regular basis then the amount you'll spend is far worth the time you would have spent designing these yourself. Plus they have amazing graphics. I have only utilized the free ones you get for signing up cause we just don't have a need for such graphics here. But I wish we did!








3) AbstractFonts.com - Still the best place to find free fonts in my opinion. I love the feature that allows you to test your font before downloading it.










4) iStockPhoto.com - Can you say Getty Images at a fraction of the cost? Seriously this is where I get ALL of my images. They are regularly increasing their fees but are still less than other image sites. A good quality photo will cost you between $3 and $10 depending on size.
















5) CreativeMYK.com - All I have got to say is it's about time we developed sites like this one. Anyone posts their original artwork or photographs here and therefore allows others to download them and use them for their purposes. I have used this site numerous times if for no other reason than to spark my own creativity. File types include: Illustrator, Photoshop, Jpeg, Vector, etc. Great site!

Bests (Part 3)

BESTS (Part 2)

The Best fast food restaurant has got to be Chic-fil-A. 


Reasons: 
  1. They claim to be a Christian-based company - The reality probably is a couple of the higher-ups are and they maintain those ideals. Either way if I can notice a difference in the atmosphere I'm sure the employees do as well. 
  2. Friendliness - Each trip I am greeted no less than 4 times with the following phrase, "It's my pleasure." This speaks volumes to a guy looking for sweet tea or an extra ice cream cone. 
  3. Cleanliness - The place is clean y'all. Workers are constantly making trips with broom in hand to make sure I have a pleasurable experience. Plus when you have kids it's important that you can put food on a table without having to call in a Hazmat squad. 
  4. Indoor Playground - It's cool in the summer and warm in the winter... can you say a parent's dream? 
  5. Good food - It's not rocket science... it's only chicken. But it is good stuff. 
  6. Free Sweet Tea refills. 
  7. They offer days like today - The Cow Appreciation Day. All you had to do was show up in a cow outfit and you could get a free meal. Did we take advantage of it... YES WE DID! We saw some hilarious cow outfits. A group of college students came in decked out. We laughed and thought "what college students won't do for a free meal." I wish I would have had my camera.

BESTS (I do the work... you reap the spoils)

PART I

I want to now compile for you a short list of the best random things this world has to offer.

BEST HARD CANDY
Bali's Best Coffee Candy (made with real coffee). Apparently this is the original coffee candy. I found this gem at Office Max the other day. 300 individually wrapped candies in three flavors. Original, Espresso, and Latte.












BEST ONLINE PRANK
The Ring Prank - from Monkeydoo.com. We tried this one out Saturday night on Kaity. Why don't you ask her how well it worked?

Here is the lowdown. You enter some random text and a friends phone number. In our case we entered "Kaity Friday" and her cell phone number. So I get a link sent to me which leads me to a spooky video using clips from "The Ring." Interspersed troughout this video is the text "Kaity Friday" as if it were part of the video. So I send Kaity a message on Facebook saying "Hey I Googled your name and found this... boy is this weired or what?"

She clicks the link, sees the video. Immediately after watching the video she gets a call on her cell phone and an unidentified man on the other end says your message to her. In our case the message was "I'm watching you... I am outside." Did I mention she was home alone?

But wait, here's the coolest part. As soon as she hangs up the phone I get an email in my inbox with a recording of the entire phone conversation. So this is what we hear. Great prank I'm telling you.
