If you have ever been at/in/near/to a church event then you've heard this statement (or some variation of it)...
"It's all worth it even if only ONE person comes to know Christ".
What is meant is that no matter how difficult the event was to plan, no matter how much money it required to bring in that special guest, no matter how inconvenienced the church senior adults were it was all worth it because someone gave their life to Christ.
However, I wonder what a church would think about this idea. "What if I devoted my entire yearly budget (every bit of it) towards going after, reaching, and discipling just ONE person?"
How well do you think that would fly?
What is the process we use to seek the lost today, (Is it more one on one? Or does it look like a shotgun approach?)
Are one of those methods better?
Are we selling ourselves short by hoping just one person is impacted?
Are we shooting ourselves in the foot by going after all of them and in turn missing all of them?
How does Matthew 18:12 relate to this if at all?
How does Acts 2:41 relate to this?
By the way, I'm not necessarily suggesting that this is a good idea. I just find the statement interesting and have placed it in the "stuff I've heard that I don't have a clue what they mean when they say it" category.
